Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Starfire, and Beast Boy are about to hit the big time.

DC Studios announced Friday they would be adding a live-action Teen Titans movie to its upcoming roster that is rebooting the DC extended universe under the studio’s new leadership, co-chairs James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Ana Nogueira will write the screenplay for the film, once she’s done with her current project, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a film starring Milly Alcock as the title hero. No other information, like who is directing, plot details, or when the film will be released, are known at this time.

Teen Titans, the squadron of young heroes that was first introduced in the comics in the 1960s, are already movie stars, thanks to the 2018 animated film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies. This will be the first live-action feature film.

And the crew had a live-action streaming show, 2018’s Titans, which aired for four seasons on HBO Max before being cancelled.

Originally introduced in The Brave and the Bold #54 comic in 1964, the Teen Titans are a group of young superheroes who together fight crime and face various villains while simultaneously battling the hormonal ravages of adolescence. Led by Batman’s sidekick Robin, the group has recently included the characters of Starfire, Raven, Beast Boy, and Cyborg, although there have been other members of the team at various times.

Though initially the Teen Titans stories were deemed kiddie fare, their popularity started to take off in the 1980s, then skyrocketed when Cartoon Network began airing Teen Titans Go!, a sarcastic take on superhero-dom with a lot of DC-related meta-commentary. The animated series ran for eight seasons on Cartoon Network, airing close to 400 episodes.
