The following Spider-Man news items are not April Fool’s Day pranks.

It feels necessary to add that disclaimer to any news published on this day, but there are enough reliable sources throughout the Spider-Verse that have confirmed this information. Tuesday, director Destin Daniel Cretton appeared at CinemaCon to disclose the title in Tom Holland’s fourth outing as the MCU’s web-slinger.

Moving beyond Home, a word used in all three of Holland’s Spider-Man films for Marvel, Cretton announced that the next movie would be titled Spider-Man: Brand New Day. It’s due in theaters on July 31st, 2026.

Cretton, along with Holland, who appeared remotely, did not discuss any plot details, but Cretton did reveal some of his process to the assembled fans. “I’m spending my time exploring the next stage of this amazing character with a team of the most incredible artists in the world,” he said. “We’re all, just daily, nerding out over the suit, how to swing, how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”

From the set of Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, filming “halfway around the world,” Holland said “I know we left you with a massive cliff hanger at the end of No Way Home, so Spider Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.” At the end of the last film, Peter Parker made the choice to erase his identity, not just to the world but to his closest friends.

Zendaya will reportedly return along with Jacob Batalon to reprise their roles as MJ and Ned, and Sadie Sink joins the cast in a role that some say could be that of the X-Men’s Jean Grey.

In the other bit of news from the -Verse, the Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Bob Persichetti, and Justin K. Thompson took to the stage to give audiences an exclusive glimpse into the upcoming film.

Fans will have to wait until June 4th, 2027 to take in the finale to the trilogy that begin with Into the Spider-Verse and continued with Across the Spider-Verse. “We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back,” said producer Phil Lord and co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson.  “So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right.”

The first two movies were certified hits at the box office and received critical acclaim. Lord promised the audience that, “it’s going to be a massive finale to the trilogy.”
