When Wolverine meets Deadpool in the MCU for the first time, he’s bringing a friend with him.

Friend may not be the right word, but Super Bowl viewers who were only watching for the commercials probably saw the new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine, the movie once known as Deadpool 3.

In the commercial, Wade Williams (Ryan Reynolds) aka Deadpool, gets nabbed while having a birthday party with a bunch of Deadpool movie regulars. He comes to in an interrogation room, and soon a man called Paradox (played by Succession‘s Matthew MacFadyen) takes him to the multi-screen console in the Time Variance Authority’s control room.

Deadpool then declares himself the “messiah” of the MCU. A few action sequences later, Pyro (Aaron Stanford) from Fox’s X-Men movie series appears, delivering the non-sequitur “I love this part.” We also see a few quick flashes of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.

Stanford’s character has not appeared on-screen since the film X-Men: The Last Stand (2006). Pyro joins Wolverine, another X-Men character, who now apparently has title billing in the new Deadpool adventure. Pyro and Wolverine were not friends, nor did they work for the same side, as Pyro fought for Magneto and Wolverine was on the side of Professor X over the franchise’s many films.

Stanford has most recently been seen in Finestkind with Ben Foster, Jenna Ortega and Tommy Lee Jones. He also has appeared in Syfy’s 12 Monkeys, CW’s Nikita and ABC’s Traveler.

Deadpool & Wolverine will also star Morena Baccarin as Deadpool’s fiancée, Vanessa; Brianna Hildebrand as mutant Negasonic Teenage Warhead; Jennifer Garner as Elektra; Leslie Uggams as Blind Al; Karan Soni as taxi driver Dopinder; Stefan Kapicic as Colossus; Shioli Kutsuna as Negasonic’s girlfriend, Yukio; and Rob Delaney as X-Force member Peter. The Crown‘s Emma Corrin will also star.

Shawn Levy directed from a script he wrote with Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick and Zeb Wells. Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26th.
