Sometimes, a contentious love life can lead to beautiful music.

Not often, but it certainly has been the case for Fleetwood Mac musicians Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks. The two began dating in 1972 shortly before releasing their debut album, titled with their surnames.

Their relationship lasted for four years, ending shortly after the duo joined the band Fleetwood Mac. Buckingham penned and sang the song “Go Your Own Way” for the 1977 album Rumours. That album went multi-platinum and the song became an iconic breakup anthem.

But their debut (and only) album Buckingham Nicks hasn’t been released on vinyl for over forty years. Originally released in 1973, it not currently available on streaming platforms. Buckingham Nicks was last issued on vinyl on the Polydor label in the US in 1981.

But an announcement Wednesday changes all that. The remastered version will drop on September 19th. Rhino Records’ high-fidelity series will issue the rerelease, with tracks sourced from the original analog master tapes. The album will also receive a CD and digital release for the first time, and the opening track, “Crying in the Night,” was available to stream Wednesday.

Speculation began a week ago about a collaboration between Buckingham and Nicks started up a week ago, when the two issued similar and cryptic posts on their Twitter accounts.

Put together, “If you go forward, I’ll meet you there” is a lyric from the Buckingham Nicks song “Frozen River.”

The song “Frozen Love” caught Mick Fleetwood’s attention in the mid-1970s when he was looking for a new Fleetwood Mac guitarist according to a news release issued this week. Fleetwood offered Buckingham the spot, but he “insisted” that he and Nicks were a “package deal.” The duo joined Fleetwood, Christine McVie and John McVie in the band ahead of their massive success with Rumours.

The release will consist of ten remastered tracks, listed below. More information and a link to pre-order the album is available on the Rhino site.
