November Remains ‘The Month of Taylor’ as Swift Announces Monday Release of New Video Directed by BFF Blake Lively
Taylor Swift is keeping her name in the news a lot this month.
First, she re-released her newly recorded version of her Grammy-nominated album Red, titled Red (Taylor’s Version), on Friday, (Swift is re-recording her first six albums after she lost the rights to them to a former producer.)
Then, she premiered her directorial debut, a ten-minute music video – actually a short film to accompany the song “All Too Well,” the fifth track on the record. The movie, which ran in its entirety on Saturday Night Live this week, stars herself, and actors Dylan O’Brien (Teen Wolf) and Sadie Sink (Stranger Things). The video played in the background as leaves, and then eventually snow, fell down onstage.
The song is rumored to be about Swift’s short-lived romance with actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
But though that is a lot, it’s still not enough. Swift announced that she will drop another new video on Monday, this one directed by her good friend Blake Lively.
The post says, “SURPRISE! NEW MUSIC VIDEO TOMORROW at 10am ET,” next to a screenshot of the video, which features a hand tearing through a wedding cake.
“I finally got to work with the brilliant, brave, & wickedly funny @blakelively on her directorial debut,” she added. “Join us as we raise a toast, and a little hell.”
Lively will make her debut as a director, helming the video for the 26th song on the album, “I Bet You Think About Me” on Sunday, which features the vocals of singer Chris Stapleton.
The song is one of eight tracks that were left “in the vault” when the album was originally released in 2012.
