“Now You Know” – “Weird Al” Yankovic Releases New Album To Go With Biopic, Including A New Single
One fact the new “Weird Al” biopic omitted? That the singer performed with Queen at the iconic Live Aid concert, and blew them off the stage.
Or so says “Weird Al” Yankovic in his new single, “Now You Know,” which runs over the end credits of the movie, now streaming on the Roku channel.
In the movie, which is a spoof of sorts of biopics, Daniel Radcliffe portrays the singer as he rises to notoriety. It also stars Evan Rachel Wood as Madonna, Rainn Wilson as Dr. Demento, and Quinta Brunson as Oprah Winfrey. It was directed by Eric Appel, who co-wrote the script with Yankovic.
“Now You Know” jokes about how the song is now eligible for Oscar consideration, how long it is (It clocks in at a whopping 5 minutes, 18 seconds) and assures listeners that everything in the movie really happened, and if you don’t believe it, it’s no skin off Yankovic’s back.
The Weird soundtrack includes the movie’s entire orchestral score, including tracks called “The Accordion” and “Al and Madonna,” but it also features new versions of “Weird Al” classics, like “My Bologna,” “I Love Rocky Road,” “Another One Rides The Bus,” “Amish Paradise,” and “Eat It,” which Yankovic recorded for the film.
It may also be the only soundtrack album this year to feature more than one polka composition, along with Yankovic’s version of the wedding classic, “The Chicken Dance.” There are 46 tracks in all, and it’s available to stream online on mulitple platforms.
