Weezer announces the release date of its new album

Ok, human…ready for all your favorite songs?

Weezer announced Monday that the first of their two upcoming albums, OK Human, is set to drop on January 29. Weezer will be releasing “All My Favorite Songs,” the first song off the album on Thursday, January 21.

Eager fans had a chance to figure out the release date via a series of puzzles, including Captchas and translating binary code to text in order to find the release date. If you want to play along, the link to the puzzle page is here.

Frontman Rivers Cuomo teased OK, Human as a piano-based project recorded without a click track, featuring string parts recorded at Abbey Road.

The “Beverly Hills” alt-rockers was supposed to release another new album, Van Weezer, in May of 2020, but that album was postponed (along with their tour with Fallout Boy and Green Day) due to the pandemic. Weezer tweeted today that that release will be May 7th. Tour dates have been tentatively rescheduled for this year.

Van Weezer is the harder rocking of the two albums. Three songs from that album have already been released: “The End of the Game,” “Hero” and “The Beginning of the End”.

Last week the band shared a Spotify playlist called All My Favorite Songs featuring tracks by Neil Young, REO Speedwagon, Johnny Cash, Toni Braxton, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Céline Dion, and Sinéad O’Connor.
