‘DuckTales’ Is No More, but Duckburg’s Stories Live on in Limited Edition Podcast
For Duckburg Public Radio, it’s This Duckburg Life. I’m Huey Duck.
Ending after only three seasons, the writers of the revival of DuckTales haven’t told all of its stories, so the voice cast of Disney XD’s show will star in an original scripted podcast series titled This Duckburg Life which will debut after the series finale.
The family-friendly seven-part podcast will be hosted by Danny Pudi as Huey Duck, doing his best impression of the iconic This American Life podcaster Ira Glass. It will be available every Monday following the premiere on March 29th and highlights untold stories from Duckburg.
The DuckTales voice cast will reprise their roles in the podcast, including David Tennant (Scrooge McDuck), Ben Schwartz (Dewey), Bobby Moynihan (Louie), Kate Micucci (Webby Vanderquack), Beck Bennett (Launchpad McQuack), Toks Olagundoye (Mrs. Beakley), Jim Rash (Gyro Gearloose), Josh Brener (Mark Beaks), Margo Martindale (Ma Beagle) and Disney legend Tony Anselmo (Donald Duck).
Back in December 2020 it was announced that the show would not come back after season three, not because the show was cancelled but because the DuckTales creative team felt it was the proper place to wrap up the show’s storylines. The final episode airs March 15th.
“The talented creative team, led by Matt Youngberg and Francisco Angones, have delivered exceptional storytelling with uniquely reimagined characters for three seasons of 75 episodes and more than 15 shorts,” Disney representatives said in a statement. “While physical production has wrapped, DuckTales continues to be available daily on Disney Channels and Disney+ around the world and fans will get an epic season finale in 2021.”
