The third installment of Guardians belongs to Rocket.

As the latest installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the third movie in its own trilogy, Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 once again comes to deliver an enjoyable and emotional adventure with this band of misfits. This time the Guardians face off against an enemy tied to one of their pasts, namely Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper).

This enemy, The High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) fancies himself a God and intends to create a perfect species to live in a utopia he built. While the Guardians are relaxing on their new base Knowhere, Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) a member of the Sovereign race from the previous film, attempts to capture Rocket at the High Evolutionary’s orders. Even though he fails, this attack leaves Rocket gravely injured, causing the Guardians to have to seek out his creator in order to save him.

Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) once again leads his friends Drax (Dave Bautista), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), and Groot (Vin Diesel), on another heist, this time to save Rocket. They eventually meet up with The Ravagers, who served as Peter’s family before he joined the Guardians.

The Ravagers are led by Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone) and the team now has Gamora (Zoe Saldana) as a member. Together they break into OrgoCorp, to save Rocket and deal with his creator.

While injured Rocket experiences memories of his life as the High Evolutionary’s creation, including living together in a cage with his fellow genetically mutated animal, Lylla the Otter (voiced by Linda Cardellini), thus heightening the emotional element in the story.

This movie is an emotional journey for Rocket and his friends, featuring incredible visuals and direction handled by James Gunn, in one of his final outings with Marvel Studios. The movie delivers yet another kick-ass soundtrack to get the Guardians and the audience moving. You can see Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 in theaters now. Be sure to remain seated for the two post-credits sequences in this film.
