A ‘Bachelorette’ No More: Katie Says Yes to Blake But Must Confront Greg in Tense Reunion [SPOILERS]
Turns out you can find the love of your life in a few weeks.
If you are The Bachelorette, of course. On Monday’s show, Katie Thurston said yes to the dress, the ring, and the last man standing…well, kneeling, Blake Moynes.
The two shared a fantasy suite date and said “I love you” to each other. Thurston sent the other remaining contestant, Justin Glaze, home.
In the last episode, the two shared a fantasy suite date and said “I love you” to each other. Thurston sent the other remaining contestant, Justin Glaze, home. Blake was the only one that Katie introduced to her family.
Later that night, Katie and Blake appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel Show, where guest host David Spade subjected them to a Newlywed Game-style quiz show. Spade quipped that Katie is the third Bachelorette that Blake has pursued, after Clare Crawley and Tayshia Adams.
“Third time’s the charm,” Blake replied.
Before Katie and Blake could officially celebrate their engagement, Katie had to first have an uncomfortable conversation with former love interest Greg during the After the Final Rose special hosted by Kaitlyn Bristowe and Adams. The confrontation started off with a lot of tension, as Katie entered the stage without greeting, hugging or even acknowledging Greg, who was a finalist before quitting the show.
“I never felt that you actually intended to probably ever get engaged in that journey together,” Katie began.
Greg noted that despite what happened between them, Katie found her happy ending. Katie replied, “but that doesn’t take away the anger that I had watching this back and seeing the way you treated me, using me to get the experience, the exposure, dare I say, the acting practice? Um, at my expense. I mean, it was pretty good. Until the end when you kinda f*cked it up and ran away.” Then things escalated as Katie accused Greg of using and gaslighting her.
Greg didn’t react, and told Katie, “A relationship is a two-way street. And yes, I know you’re the Bachelorette but, still, that doesn’t put you any higher in this relationship and me any lower. I emptied my heart out to you. I emptied my heart out to you on that couch, and all I got was just a pat on the back after it. I just wanted something real at the end of the day.”
Who is right and who is wrong here? We may never know. On Twitter, Bachelor Nation was divided and couldn’t decide which side to take, but many were not supportive of Katie’s accusations that Greg was gaslighting her. And some were not sure she was really over Greg at all.
Maybe true love is a little more elusive than The Bachelorette would have us believe.
