Artifacts and Excavation: Peacock Unearths a First Look at Amy Poehler and Hugh Laurie in New Comedy ‘Dig’
Amy Poehler is back in the field with showrunner Michael Schur for a new sitcom coming to Peacock.
Poehler will star in Dig, a comedy about “a team of dedicated archaeologists (and less-dedicated college students) [who] spend their summer working on a dig site in Greece. Their discovery of a rare artifact sends them on the adventure of a lifetime,” at the heart of an international conspiracy.
The show is based on the novel Excavations by Kate Myers. Poehler will star as Elise, an American archaeologist, and Hugh Laurie (House, Veep) will play as Neville, a British professor who fancies himself a mentor to those working at the site and strives to uphold archaeological traditions.
Also among the regular cast are Geraldine Viswanathan (Thunderbolts, Drive Away Dolls), Antonia Thomas (Suspect, The Good Doctor) and Fina Strazza (Fear Street: Prom Queen), with guest cast members including Kayvan Novak (What We Do in the Shadows), Jon Pointing (Big Boys) and Bonita Friedericy (Chuck).

Poehler and Schur worked together on Parks and Recreation, for which Poehler received six Emmy nominations for her role as Leslie Knope. Parks wrapped in 2015. Schur and Amy Poehler co-wrote the pilot episode and both will executive produce the series.
The ten-episode series will premiere on Peacock on November 23rd.
