“Be That Witch Again” – Agnes Claws Her Way Back to Power in First Trailer for ‘Agatha All Along’
What’s a witch without a coven?
That’s the first order of business for Agatha Harkness – well, after she’s “spiritually” revived after the climax of WandaVision left her powerless – in the new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series Agatha All Along.
The show’s official description reads, “The infamous Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn, reprising her WandaVision role) finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth teen (Joe Locke) helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road.”
Jac Schaeffer, who was WandaVision‘s creator and showrunner, serves as showrunner and directs the pilot episode. The new series picks up where WandaVision left off, with Agatha trapped in Westview as Agnes, seemingly living out life as the protagonist of a gritty, Mare of Easttown-style police procedural.
In the trailer we see her joining fellow WandaVision refugee David A. Payton into a case of a murdered woman. In WandaVision, Hahn was introduced as a nosy neighbor in the various sitcom iterations that appeared in each episode. While Agnes is alone with the body, Aubrey Plaza appears as a fellow detective, but one with the power to start her on her path to reverting to her former self taking her through her former incarnations first.
Her plan is to “walk the Witches’ Road,” which Lilia Calderu (Patti LuPone) warns her is a “death wish,” later asking, “what witch in her right mind would join Agatha Harkness’ coven?”
“I’m not looking for right-minded witches, as it happens,” Agatha snarks.
The cast also includes Sasheer Zamata, Ali Ahn, Debra Jo Rupp and more. Rachel Goldberg and Gandja Montiero will also direct. Marvel studio head Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Mary Livanos, and Schaeffer all executive produce.
The first two episodes of Agatha All Along premiere on September 18th, with weekly episodes to follow.
