FX announced Wednesday that you can watch new episodes of their hit “comedy” The Bear when the fifth and final season premieres on June 25th – but if that’s too long to wait, have they got a surprise for you.

FX and Hulu, its streaming partner, dropped an unscheduled episode set before the first season of The Bear – before Carmy’s (Jeremy Allen White) brother Mikey (Jon Bernthal, seen throughout the show in flashbacks) took his own life.

The episode, titled “Gary,” flashes back to when Mikey and cousin Richie traveled to Gary, Indiana on a work trip. Moss-Bachrach and Bernthal co-wrote the script, and it was directed by series creator Christopher Storer.

Moss-Bachrach took to social media after “Gary” was released, writing, “We are so excited to finally share this little adventure with Richie and Mikey. Written by me and @jonnybernthal . Directed by the one Christopher Storer. Making this was a dream come true. Thank you to the beautiful people of Gary, Indiana and as always Chicago, Illinois.”

Anyone who made it to the end of Season 4, which was released in June of last year, knows that the episode ended on a major downer, and the new season description doesn’t look much more promising, according to FX. “Season 5 picks up the morning after Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), Richie and Natalie “Sugar” (Abby Elliott) discover that Carmy has quit the food industry, leaving the restaurant to them. With no money, the threat of a sale and a torrential storm in their way, the new partners must band together with the rest of the team to achieve one last service, hoping they’ll finally earn a Michelin star.”

The show has earned 21 Emmy Awards since its debut, the most of any show this released decade. And despite ‘half-hour drama’ (or maybe ‘dramedy’) being a far more accurate category for The Bear, it is also tied with Seth Rogan’s Apple series The Studio for the most Emmy nominations for a comedy series in a given year, garnering 23 for its second season.

“Gary,” now streaming on Hulu, can be found by searching for the episode title, and not part of The Bear‘s previous episodes, all of which are available on the platform. Season 5 drops June 25th.
