‘Chucky’ Comes Home to Make a Killing in New Syfy Series Premiering this Month
He’s back!
Chucky, the “Good Guy” doll with the killer glitch is getting his own series. Premiering on October 12th on the cable networks USA and Syfy, the ten-episode series called Chucky brings back series regulars like Brad Dourif as the voice of Chucky, Jennifer Tilly as Tiffany, Chucky’s better half, in human form.
The series will continue the storylines from the original movies (starting with 1988’s Child’s Play) and their recent sequels, Curse and Cult of Chucky, but not the 2019 reboot that featured Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. Also returning are Fiona Dourif as Nica Pierce, Alex Vincent as Andy Barclay, and Christine Elise as Kyle. Devon Sawa (Final Destination) and Zackary Arthur also star.
“Chucky broke his soul into pieces, but the last piece didn’t go into a doll,” Andy explains to Chucky’s new owner Jackson in the trailer for the series, which brings back creator Don Mancini.
This go-around with the infamous doll housing the spirit of a serial killer has been called a “fresh take on the franchise” that’ll “explore Chucky’s character with a depth that is uniquely afforded by the television series format.”
The official series description reads, “after a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies — and allies — from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.”
