You will believe a woman can be turned into a chicken nugget.

Well, that’s probably not true. But Netflix’s new K-drama Chicken Nugget sure looks like fun.

Created by Lee Byeong-heon, whose 2019 police comedy Extreme Job became one of the highest-grossing films in South Korean film history), the show reunites Lee with Ryu Seung-ryong, who starred in Extreme Cop. He’s joined by Ahn Jae-hong, and play the father, Choi Seon-man (Seung-ryong) and secret admirer, Baek-joong (Jae-hong) of Choi Min-ah, who is played in human form by Kim You-jung.

Why does she play her only in human form? Because Choi Min-ah enters a machine created for her father’s food business and turns into a chicken nugget, of course. What follows is a rollicking and surreal adventure as Choi Seon-man and Baek-joong attempt to change her back – or at least keep her from being unwittingly lost…or consumed.

Though it looks like a straight-up comedy, Chicken Nugget is described as a mystery-drama, as it probably would feel mysterious and dramatic to find out your loved one turned into an appetizer. The show is based on a webtoon by the same name, created by Park Ji-dok.

Chicken Nugget joins Netflix’s extensive collection collection of series and movies made in the bustling South Korean entertainment industry, including King the Land, Squid Game, Strong Girl Nam Soon, and My Demon, which also stars Kim You-jung.

Chicken Nugget dips onto Netflix on March 15th.
