Simu Liu can’t get away from the action.

Liu, who starred in Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, will play the lead in the series Seven Wonders for Prime Video. Justin Lin (The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) will direct and executive produce for Universal Studios.

Based on the novel by Ben Mezrich, Seven Wonders is a globe-trotting, action-adventure that follows brilliant botanist-adventurer, Dr. Nate Grady (Liu), as he teams up with the slippery international fixer, Sloane Seydoux on a breathless race to solve an ancient mystery tied to the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World.

The Legend of Tarzan writer Adam Cozad will serve as screenwriter, once again working with Lin. The two previously worked to develop the feature Snap Dragon at Warner Bros. Cozad will also executive produce along with Perfect Storm Entertainment’s Salvador Gatdula and Andrew Schneider along with Beau Flynn. Scott Sheldon is co-executive producer.

Mezrich wrote The Accidental Billionaires, the novel that was adapted into the critically-acclaimed film The Social Network. The idea for the Seven Wonders adaptation originated with Flynn and Mezrich, who developed the novel together.

Liu is best known for playing the title role in Shang-Chi, and will reprise the role in the film’s upcoming sequel. Up next he will be seen in the upcoming Barbie opposite Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, as well as Arthur the King with Mark Wahlberg.
