Go On Down To Red Rocks and Have Yourself a Time at ‘South Park’ 25th Anniversary Concert
Oh, my god, they’re celebrating South Park!
Matt Stone and Trey Parker, creators of the enduring potty-mouthed comedy, are celebrating the show’s 25th anniversary with a live concert featuring performances from Primus and Ween, to be held August 10th at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colorado. Primus composed the show’s iconic theme song.
An official announcement video released for the event says the show will “celebrate 25 years of the music of South Park” and that Parker and Stone will also be in attendance. The event is sponsored by, among other entities, Tegridy Farms, the in-show cannabis business run by Randy Marsh, the father of Stan, one of the main characters on the show.
“We’re so excited to go home and play at Red Rocks, a place that’s been known for hosting the most legendary artists and musicians. Until now,” Parker and Stone said in a joint statement.
If you want to attend, ticket sale registration opened up Wednesday evening at this link, running from March 16th at 6:15pm to March 20th at 11:59pm. If you are randomly selected during this process, then on March 23rd, you will be offered the chance to buy two tickets to the show.
Tickets are expected to cost more than $99, but according to the event page, signing up during this period is the route most likely to land you entry to the celebration.
South Park launched on Comedy Central on August 13th, 1997. Parker and Stone recently inked a new deal for the show last August which runs through 2027 and includes 14 exclusive Paramount+ projects, and renewal of the series through season 30. Two of those 14 made-for-TV movies dropped late last year, and the show’s latest season premiered on February 2nd.
“Thanks to the brilliant minds of Matt and Trey, for the past 25 years, multiple generations of fans have grown up enchanted by the outlandishly funny and subversive world of South Park,” Chris McCarthy, president and CEO of Paramount Media Networks and MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement. “A concert at the iconic Red Rocks to mark this milestone is the perfect way to celebrate, thank the fans and pay tribute to the quintessential artists, such as Primus and Ween, and the many others featured throughout the show’s run.”
