Hulu Drops First Look at ‘White Men Can’t Jump’ From “Old Town Road” Director, Coming This May
Hulu released a trailer and set a release date for its remake of the 1992 classic White Men Can’t Jump.
Directed by Calmatic, who was behind the camera for the video for the hit 2019 song “Old Town Road” for Lil Nas X (and also the House Party remake), Hulu’s take features Sinqua Walls (Friday Night Lights) and rapper Jack Harlow playing a pair of basketball hustlers. Walls’ character is named Kamal Allen, but Harlow’s character name has yet to be revealed.
The movie’s plot has yet to be revealed, but in the clip, set to Skee-Lo’s “I Wish,” the duo tries to work as a two-man streetball team while also debating the filmmaking styles of Paul Thomas Anderson and Spike Lee.
The original movie starred Wesley Snipes, Woody Harrelson and Rosie Perez, and was written and directed by Ron Shelton. It grossed $90 million worldwide.
Lance Reddick (Resident Evil), Vince Staples, Laura Harrier (Spider-Man: Homecoming) and Teyana Taylor (Coming 2 America) also star in the film.
The movie was penned by black-ish creator Kenya Barris with Doug Hall, and will premiere only on Hulu, with no theatrical release set.
