Jensen Ackles says he is “doing Batman.”

What that means we don’t yet know, but going by his June 9th interview on Late Night with Seth Myers, the star of The Boys and Supernatural is back in the DC family.

During his guest spot, Ackles confirmed that he recently worked at the studio, but didn’t reveal what project he is working on. He did say he spent several hours working on the character.

“Yep. In fact, I just spent about three and a half hours in the studio yesterday doing, uh, doing Batman. That was a big deal. I don’t want to drop that ball.”

This is nothing new for Ackles; the actor has voiced characters in DC’s animated features on several occasions. His first foray into the animated scene was voicing Jason Todd in 2010’s Batman: Under the Red Hood, and after that he was cast as Bruce Wayne in Batman: The Long Halloween.

Earlier this year, Ackles appeared on the podcast Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum and revealed to his former Smallville co-star that he was developing an unnamed DC Comics property.

“Well, there is a DC property that I’m currently developing right now with Warner Bros. and some other good partners that I’ve got my fingers crossed for,” Ackles said. “Again, I’m not going to talk about it cause you don’t want to jinx it.”

One DC project currently in development is The CW’s Gotham Knights, about the children of Bruce Wayne and other Gotham villains trying to solve the murder of the Caped Crusader, and although his former Supernatural castmate Misha Collins is part of that drama, Ackles’ name hasn’t officially been added to the roster.
