The band that never released an album is getting their own TV show.

Disney+ announced Monday that they are making another Muppet series, this time one featuring the Muppets’ venerable in-house band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem.

Muppet Mayhem “will take audiences on a music-filled journey as, at long last, The Electric Mayhem Band records its first ever album,” Disney said in a press release. Lilly Singh (A Little Late with Lilly Singh) will play the human lead role of Nora, the junior A&R executive who helps manage the band, which includes Dr. Teeth on vocals and keyboards, Animal on the drums, Floyd Pepper on vocals and bass, Janice on vocals, Zoot on saxophone and Lips on trumpet.

With the help of Nora, the old-school Muppet band confronts today’s music scene and tries to finally go platinum. Though the band debuted 45 years ago, appearing on episodes of Muppets television shows and in movies, the band itself has never put out an album featuring just their music.

The series is being written and executive procuced by Adam F. Goldberg (The Goldbergs), Bill Barretta (The Muppets) and Jeff Yorkes.

The Electric Mayhem Band members are voiced by Barretta (Dr. Teeth), Eric Jacobson (Animal), Matt Vogel (Floyd Pepper), David Rudman (Janice), Dave Goelz (Zoot) and Peter Linz (Lips).

“The Muppets are renowned for quality, creativity and unrivaled, fun storytelling for the whole family,” said Ayo Davis, president, Disney Branded Television, in a statement. “We are thrilled to have Adam, Bill and Jeff at the helm to bring all of these iconic and great new characters to life in fresh and dynamic ways.”

Added Jonnie Davis, President of ABC Signature, the studio behind the series: “Adam is our resident Muppet enthusiast… and getting to play in the sandbox with Bill, a longtime Muppet performer, as well as these beloved characters was a dream come true for him, Bill and Jeff. Their take is fresh, fun, musical and of course, hilarious. We couldn’t be happier to be the studio that is helping them get the band back together.”

This is the second proposed Muppets scripted comedy series on Disney+; the first, Muppets Live Another Day, from Josh Gad and Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis, did not go beyond the pilot stage.

ABC previously tried a Muppets series reboot with the 2015 The Muppets, which lasted for one season and again in 2020 with Muppets Now. Meanwhile, Muppet Babies recently wrapped its three-season run on Disney Junior. The last puppet-based project for the beloved characters was Muppets Haunted Mansion, the first Muppets Halloween special and the first special from The Muppets Studio for Disney+. It included three new original songs.
