You don’t have to be a boy to be a Lost Boy.

In Peter & Wendy, Disney’s latest live-action adaptation of a classic animated film, coming to the streamer April 28th, young Wendy Darling (played by Ever Anderson), and her brothers John and Michael get whisked away to the world of Neverland, a magical world with pirates, mystical creatures, and a group of runaway children known as The Lost Boys, just like in the original story. But some in this motley group of children defy their moniker,

“You’re not all boys,” states a bewildered Wendy upon meeting the group.

“So?” retort two of the female Lost Boys.

The Darlings, of course, are spirited away by Peter Pan (played by Alexander Molony in his feature film debut), who with the help of Tinkerbell (Yara Shahidi), teaches how them to fly and have adventures and to never grow up. The film also features Alyssa Wapanatâhk as Tiger Lily, Jim Gaffigan as Mr. Smee, Alan Tudyk as Mr. Darling, and Joshua Pickering as John Darling.

Of course, danger is afoot for the Darlings, courtesy of Peter’s enemy, the sinister Captain Hook (played with menace by Jude Law) and his band of pirates.

Peter Pan & Wendy is directed David Lowery, who hel med the 2016 Pete’s Dragon reboot and 2021’s The Green Knight. Lowery’s reimagining of 1953’s animated Peter Pan features an inclusive cast of young actors.

“In making Peter Pan & Wendy, we set out to craft a film that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaptation; we wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart, and a grand yearning for adventure,” he said. “Hundreds of incredible artists spent many years bringing this film to the screen; I’m excited for audiences to see their work, to go on this ride, and to rediscover an evergreen tale from a new perspective.”
