America’s favorite serial killer is back, if only for a limited time.

Last seen in 2013, the character of Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall,) the man with the complicated resume – blood spatter expert for the Miami PD by day, serial killer by night – will return for a ten-episode limited run series on Showtime.

Dexter should begin production early next year and will premiere in fall 2021, or so the network says. Gary Levine, the Co-President of Entertainment at Showtime claims that the network was willing to revive the quirky character if the showrunners could come up with a worthy enough creative take, and feels confident they found it.

If you were one of the legions of fans who were disappointed with the original series finale, you may get the answers you didn’t get the first time around. (Warning – spoilers ahead.) A lot of fans hated the lack of a satisfying ending after investing so much time in the show. In the finale, Dexter tossed his sister’s body in the ocean, let his family go to Argentina, and faked his own death, only to turn up in Oregan as a lumberjack, which left many baffled.

A new season is a chance to make things right with fans. What do you think? Are you excited for the redemption of Dexter? Let us know in the comments.
