Lauren Ambrose To Get Her Kicks On Sophomore Season Of ‘Yellowjackets’ And Liv Hewson Promoted To Series Regular
Lauren Ambrose is joining the adults on Showtime’s hit Yellowjackets – for what that’s worth.
Ambrose joins the cast of the show, which features parallel storylines of a soccer team trapped on an uncharted island together and the sometimes murderous antics of the troubled adult survivors of that marooning. She’ll play the adult version of the character Van, played by Liv Hewson. Hewson has been promoted to series regular, the showrunners announced Thursday.
Ambrose starred for five seasons on Six Feet Under, which earned her two Primetime Emmy Award nominations. She can currently be seen on Apple TV+ in M. Night Shyamalan’s psychological thriller series Servant.
Vanessa “Van” Palmer was a member of the WHS Yellowjackets, a survivor of the plane crash. Van was savagely mauled by the first season, but also managed to survive that nightmare, at least for a while. Her fate was left unclear by the end of the first season, but now it seems certain her character survived.
Ambrose joins fellow Yellowjackets adult cast members including Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Juliette Lewis and Tawney Cypress. The cast on the islands, set in the 1990s, includes Hewson, Ella Purnell, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Sophie Nelisse.
Season two is poised to begin production Aug. 30. A return date has not yet been announced.
