New Trailer Teases Live ‘Star Trek Day’ Event Celebrating 55 Years of Looking to the Stars
55 years ago, a show premiered with the intention of boldly going where no one had gone before.
Star Trek (the original series) launched on September 8th, 1966, and 55 years later it is still living long and prospering, with multiple series being produced and most streaming on Paramount+.
To celebrate, fans from around the world can go to Star Trek‘s website and join the free live-streamed celebration of Star Trek Day on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 5:30 PM, PT/8:30 PM, ET, streaming live from the Skirball Cultural Center in Los Angeles, California.
The celebration will be hosted by The Next Generation‘s Wil Wheaton and Mica Burton and composer Jeff Russo will lead a live orchestra in your favorite theme songs. Fans can watch back-to-back in-person conversations with cast members and creatives from the Star Trek Universe, and the event will celebrate “legacy moments” with iconic cast members like Cirroc Lofton and Garret Wang, plus surprise announcements and reveals throughout.
The long-running franchise recently reached its 800th episode ever with last week’s episode of Star Trek: Lower Decks titled “We’ll Always have Tom Paris”, featuring the return of Robert Duncan McNeill as his Voyager character Tom Paris. Trek previously reached its 800th entry overall – including the movies – earlier this year, with Star Trek: Discovery episode “There Is A Tide…”
These 800 episodes have been spread across 10 separate series, with the bulk of them coming from the long-running The Next Generation and Voyager series.
