Oh Krap! Fox Finally Gives Premiere Date to Dan Harmon’s Animated Three-Season Series ‘Krapopolis’
Dan Harmon’s new series hasn’t aired a single episode, but it’s already been renewed twice.
Fox is hoping to change that come September, though. The long-delayed Krapopolis, an new animated series from the creator of Rick and Morty, finally has a premiere date. The network is launching the show with a two-episode block airing on September 24th, after that day’s NFL double-header.
The series will then move into its regular Sunday 8:30pm EST time slot on October 1st, coinciding with the debut of new seasons of The Simpsons, Bob’s Burger’s and Family Guy. The show, first announced in 2020, was previously scheduled to premiere last May, but Fox pushed back its debut to fall premiere season. That delay was just one of many for the fledgling show, which is the first to be fully owned by Fox. The show has a three season guarantee, having already racked up two renewals.
The Writers Guild strike may be upsetting most network’s schedules, but Fox’s Animation Domination block has an advantage, as previously written scripts can be produced.
Set in mythical ancient Greece, Krapopolis tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters trying to encourage the denizens of one of the world’s first cities to emerge from the “savage wilderness” to begin experimenting with a new concept called “civilization,” according to the network.
The voice cast includes Ted Lasso‘s Hannah Waddingham, What We Do in the Shadows‘ Matt Berry and The IT Crowd‘s Richard Ayoade, Pam Murphy and Duncan Trussell. Harmon is an executive producer, and Jordan Young (BoJack Horseman) serves as showrunner.
