Paramount’s ‘Secret Headquarters’ Borrows MCU Actors And Ideas For New Family-Friendly Film
Paramount’s new superhero adventure takes something from Loki, a little bit from Iron Man (and even some ideas from DC) and folds it all together to make Secret Headquarters.
In the movie, coming to Paramount+ on August 12th, Owen Wilson (Loki) moonlights as a superhero called the Earth Defender, all the while passing as a boring suburban dad. His secret is discovered by his son Charlie, played by Walker Scobell of The Adam Project. While throwing a party in Charlie’s parent-less house, the kids discover that Charlie’s dad has a secret underground lair, not unlike the Batcave.
Much like The Green Lantern, Charlie’s dad was granted powers and the position of Earth’s guardian by an alien intelligence, who gave him a mysterious power source and an Iron Man-style super suit.
When Charlie and his friends decide to meddle with the high-tech gadgets, it doesn’t go well. Two villains, played by Ant-Man‘s Michael Peña and Jesse Williams, target the kids so they can steal the tech for themselves, and of course, Charlie’s dad will have to help them save the day, or the world, even.
Keith L. Williams, Momona Tamada, Kezii Curtis and Abby James Witherspoon are also in the cast. Secret Headquarters is directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman (Catfish: The TV Show, Power), who co-wrote the script with Christopher Yost and Josh Koenigsberg.
