Most ‘save our show’ campaigns end in failure, it’s true. But devotees of Warrior Nun on Netflix can join the ranks of fans of shows like Manifest and Jericho in rejoicing that their efforts were not in vain.

Warrior Nun creator and showrunner Simon Barry tweeted on Wednesday that because of the fans’ “combined voices, passion and amazing efforts,” an “epic” “return” is in the works. He continued that there are “More details to come! SOON! Thank you!!”

As it stands, there are no known deals in place with other streamers, but there are discussions underway to revive the series. Whether the new content is a standalone movie or a (possibly shortened) final season in order to give fans closure is not known, but the project is not slated to return to Netflix.

Based on a comic book character created by Ben Dunn, the show stars Alba Baptista as Ava Silva, a quadriplegic orphan who joins an ancient order of warrior nuns and help defeat a threatening angel, Adriel, after she is resurrected with new-found superpowers.

The cast also includes Lorena Andrea as Sister Lilith, Kristina Tonteri-Young as Sister Beatrice, Tristán Ulloa as Father Vincent, Thekla Reuten as Jillian Salvius, Sylvia De Fanti as Mother Superion and William Miller as Adriel. No cast deal announcements have been made yet, of course.

Warrior Nun was canceled by Netflix back in December of last year, only a month after the second season premiere. This sparked an immediate and enthusiastic fan campaign hoping to revive the show. Fans circulated an online petition that garnered over 120,000 signatures and tweeted the hashtag #SaveWarriorNun over five million times. And that actually worked!
