Ryan Reynolds Teams Up With His Younger Self in Trailer for His Next Netflix Original Movie
Netflix is doubling down on Ryan Reynolds in its next big original movie.
Reynolds is starring as Adam Reed in The Adam Project, coming to Netflix in March, but he’s not the only one playing that role. Joining him and playing his younger self is Walker Scobell, who plays the character as a 13-year-old in the present day. Reynolds plays his older self, a fighter pilot who has traveled back from the future to enlist the help of young Adam – and their father.
Joining Reynolds in the film is fellow MCU star Mark Ruffalo (the Hulk in every Avengers movie), who plays the young Adam’s late father, who passed away just before the action in the movie starts. (The reason they need him is not made clear, but the older Adam is on a mission to save all of existence from the threat of unfettered time travel.)
A few more familiar faces from various Marvel projects are appearing in the film, including Zoe Saldana (Guardians of the Galaxy), who plays a lightsaber-wielding compatriot of the older Adam, and Jennifer Garner (she was in Daredevil and Electra) plays Adam’s widowed mother.
Catherine Keener, Mellanie Hubert and Lucie Guest round out the cast. The movie is directed by Shawn Levy, who helmed Free Guy, which also starred Reynolds, as well as television projects Stranger Things and Shadow and Bone.
Reynolds killed it in his last Netflix project, the globe-trotting action heist comedy Red Notice in which he starred alongside Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot, which became the biggest original movie to premiere on Netflix last year, prompting the streamer to greenlight two sequels due to be filmed back-to-back.
The Adam Project is available to stream on Netflix starting March 11th.
