Spidey’s School Daze: Disney+ Drops Trailer for ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man’, Premiering Next Month
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is jeopardizing his high school career to save the city.
It’s going to be a year before the next MCU adventure featuring our favorite web-slinger, but in the meantime you can catch Spidey’s animated adventures in a new series on Disney+.
Set in a parallel timeline to the MCU Spider-Man origin story, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man “follows Peter Parker on his way to becoming a hero, with a journey unlike we’ve ever seen and a style that celebrates the character’s early comic book roots,” according to Marvel’s official description of the show.
The show follows a parallel timeline where Peter Parker as a newly-minted Spider-Man is mentored by Norman Osborn, the alter-ego of his archenemy the Green Goblin, instead of Tony Stark as we saw in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Peter Parker is a student with a not-so-stellar attendance record, as fighting crime takes precedence over homeroom. As Peter struggles to navigate friendship, romance, and avoid detention, he also dons his homemade suit so he can battle the bad guys.
That’s until Osborn, takes an interest in Peter/Spider-Man and gives him a state-of-the-art Spidey-suit. Of course there will be strings (or webs?) attached to this gift.
Hudson Thames plays Peter/Spider-Man. The rest of the cast includes Colman Domingo as Osborn, Kari Wahlgren as Aunt May and Hugh Dancy as Doctor Octopus. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise their roles from Netflix’s Daredevil series, and Paul F. Tompkins plays Marvel comic book villain The Wizard.
Jeff Trammell serves as head writer and Mel Zwyer is the supervising director. Brad Winderbaum, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt, and Trammell are all listed as executive producers.
You can stream Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man beginning January 29th on Disney+.
