As one door closes, another one opens. The Bachelorette ended roughly two weeks ago and now, The Bachelor is starting.

On the 25th season of The Bachelor, we are introduced to Matt James, who is new to this whole thing. Normally, the Bachelor or Bachelorette is someone who was from a previous season, but that is not the case for James.

James, 29, is making history by being the first Black Bachelor. James is a real estate broker from North Carolina where he attended Wake Forest University. Before becoming the Bachelor, James was a professional football player and now resides in New York City.

One of the main things James is worried about during his season is pleasing everyone because of his past. He comes from an interracial relationship, his mom being white and his dad, Black. He knows that some people do not approve of interracial relationships and wants to be respectful of everyone.

Though James has not been on a previous season of any Bachelor franchise, he may look familiar to some because he hangs around Tyler Cameron, a suitor who was trying to win over Hannah Brown during season 15 of The Bachelorette.

Unlike other seasons, this one is being filmed at the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, PA. The hotel has 320 rooms, which is plenty of space for James and his women.

Out of the record-breaking 32 women vying for James’s heart, there were quite a few who definitely left a first impression.

For starters, the first girl we see open the episode right away is Katie who brings something from home for James. Something that got her through quarantine, and something that is not okay to write about in this article, if you know what I am saying.

Another girl that stands out is Kaili. She shows up to her first time meeting James wearing nothing but lingerie and a silk robe. She is walking alongside a clothing rack with two different dresses because she wants his opinion on the one she should wear for the night.

Last but not least, we have Victoria. Excuse me, Queen Victoria. What is she queen of? I am glad you asked, because I have no clue. She claims to go by that name because she is named after Queen Victoria. So apparently if you are named after someone with royal status, you can call yourself queen, king, prince or princess.

As the episode goes on and James meets all the women, he walks inside and wants to open up the night by saying a prayer. Now this is gaining a lot of controversy on social media because people are saying that not everyone who is there is religious and you should not force someone to pray if they do not recognize that religion.

The night goes on and Chris brings out the first impression rose and all of the women are believing that they are the ones that are going to get it.

But they are all wrong, except Abigail, 25, who is a Client Financial Manager from Beaverton, Oregon. She is the woman who wins over James on night one and receives the first impression rose.

There is something special about Abigail, though. She is deaf and opened up to James about this, even though she does not speak much about it in her regular life. Abigail was born completely deaf and received a cochlear implant when she was two years old.

If you are just as curious as I was about what a cochlear implant is, it is an electric device used to help people who are deaf feel electric signals which directly stimulate the auditory nerve.

By the end of the night, it was already the first rose ceremony. James was going to hand out 23 more roses since he already bestowed one on Abigail earlier.

The 24 women that will be continuing on the try to become Mrs. James are: Abigail, Bri, Rachael, Chelsea, Sarah, MJ, Serena P, Khaylah, Kristin, Kit, Magi, Pieper, Mari, Illeana, Jessenia, Kaili, Marylynn, Serena C, Lauren, Sydney, Alana, Katie, Anna, and Victoria.

I am very excited for this season because I always love the drama between the women on the show and there seems to be a lot of that judging from the previews.
