Matt James has finally narrowed his women down to the final four which means it is hometown week and Matt will be meeting his potential in-laws.

The difference is that the families have traveled to Pennsylvania instead of Matt traveling to the hometowns of where the women come from.

Michelle has the first hometown date. It starts out with Michelle telling Matt that in Minnesota, she and her family go biking a lot. So she and Matt will be riding bicycles around a trail. They end up at a building where Michelle has a surprise for him.

As they walk into a classroom set in the building, Michelle’s students appear on the screen via Zoom to talk to Matt and Michelle. The students ask Matt some funny and difficult questions such as “Do you want babies?” and “Are you going to marry Miss Young?”

Later on, Matt is introduced to Michelle’s mom and dad. They all talk for a bit before Michelle and her dad go talk privately.

Michelle’s dad asks her if she is ready to be engaged to Matt and she says yes. He is somewhat surprised because of how fast this is all happening but says he trusts that his daughter is happy and making the right decisions. Both of her parents say they support her and want the best for her in the end.

As the night is coming to an end, Michelle tells Matt that she is falling in love with him.

The next hometown is Rachael. She is from Georgia. Their date consists of Rachael blindfolding Matt and driving him to a helicopter where they will skydive from.

Matt says he trusts Rachael and also, somewhat, foreshadows the future of the date by saying, “What can go wrong?” Well let me tell you Matt, a lot can go wrong.

As Rachael and her instructor are coming to the ground, they have a rough landing and she faceplants really hard into the ground. She has grass in her mouth and her hair is all over the place. But in the next scene, through the magic of editing, her hair and makeup is perfect again as if nothing happened.

Matt gets to meet Rachael’s mom, dad, and sister. They all talk for a bit before Rachael and her mom go talk in another room.

Rachael tells her mom she can definitely see herself being engaged to Matt at the end of this and if he asks her tomorrow, she is ready to say yes.

Matt and Rachael’s dad talk outside and her dad is hesitant about the whole situation because he is dating other women and wants to make sure his daughter is a priority to Matt.

One of the important things Rachael wanted out of this was to make sure Matt asked her dad for his approval, but Matt said he could not do that quite yet because he was not ready at that moment.

The third hometown date is Bri. She is from California. She has some payback for Matt from their first date together and she takes him off-roading in a Jeep Wrangler. Afterwards, they have a picnic and talk about the rest of the night and what Matt should expect from Bri’s mom.

Matt gets to meet Bri’s mom and best friend. Her mom seems to be very skeptical about the relationship, more so than any other parent it seems.

After talking with her mom and best friend, Bri says that she is definitely falling in love with Matt and can see a future with him.

Lastly, Serena has her hometown. She is from Canada and her date entails Matt learning Canadian lingo and history and trying out different Canadian foods such as poutine. Serena quizzes him on some Canadian thing such as how many points are on the Maple Leaf flag.

They then participate in another Canadian activity, ice hockey, and Serena wins the game.

Matt then meets Serena’s mom, dad, and sister that evening. Her mom is worried about her getting hurt again because her previous relationship seemed to break her due to the fact she thought he was the one for her.

As Serena is talking to her sister, she says that something seems off and that Serena does not seem 100% invested in the relationship. This makes Serena question her future with Matt and has doubts about it but can’t pinpoint what those doubts are.

Serena tells Matt that she is having doubts that are not about him but just her inner battles. Matt reassures her that she can talk to him about them so he can help her figure out what is wrong. As Matt leaves, you can tell there is a little tension between the two of them.

The next day is the rose ceremony but before heading into it, Matt and Chris talk. Chris tells Matt he needs to go talk to Serena right away before handing out any roses so he knows where they stand.

Matt heads over to the place where the women are staying and talks to Serena. She eventually tells him that he is not her person and she didn’t know this until talking to her mom the night before. Matt is obviously crushed and emotional because he definitely saw a future with Serena and could have proposed to her.

Later in the night, the remaining three women show up for the rose ceremony and figure out Serena is not coming. There are three roses left which means all three of them, Michelle, Bri, and Rachael, will receive one and head into fantasy suites week.

Next week’s episode is going to be The Women Tell All which will be extremely interesting to watch because of all the drama that has happened this season.
