Stranger Things Have Happened: ‘The Boys’ Add Paul Reiser To The Cast As Stan Lee Parody ‘Legend’
Paul Reiser has achieved legendary status.
The Emmy-winning actor is known for his work on the ’90s sitcom Mad About You and currently plays a recurring role on Stranger Things as Dr. Owens. He joins the cast as “The Legend,” a character from the original Boys comics from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The two drew him as a parody version of the late Marvel creator Stan Lee.
Reiser will make his series debut in this week’s episode titled “The Last Time To Look On This World Of Lies” which drops on Friday.
Reiser recently wrapped up production on Hulu’s new comedy series Reboot, which also stars Keegan Michael Key, Johnny Knoxville, and Judy Greer.
In 2021, Reiser was nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy for his work in Season 3 of Netflix’s The Kominsky Method.
In the comics, “Old Legend” is a small, horny, elderly bald man with glasses and a red bow tie who smokes cigars. He runs a comic book shop and knows virtually everything there is to know about supes. Reiser’s take on the character will surely be different, but viewers should expect an unscrupulous caretaker of all the secrets of the corrupt Vought corporation.
The Boys, already renewed for a fourth season, is halfway through its third now, which will conclude on July 8th. The show is executive produced by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke along with Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg.
