This Cinderella wants to move product, not marry a prince.

Amazon Studio’s take on Cinderella has the titular orphan, played by Camila Cabelo, trying to jump start her career as a fashion designer.

The modernized movie, which debuts on Amazon Prime in September, offers a new spin on the familiar story about a teen forced to live with her evil stepmother and wicked stepsisters. In this version, the ambitious protagonist, going by Ella, isn’t damsel in distress; she’s a woman who wants to be a seamstress and one day launch her own dress line.

When her stepmom (Idina Menzel) tries to stop her by banning her from going to the ball, thus ruining her chances of showing off her custom gowns, Cinderella is greeted by not a fairy godmother, but her Fab G, portrayed by Pose star and glamor icon Billy Porter.

Cinderella was written and directed by Kay Cannon, a former 30 Rock writer who is best known for creating the Pitch Perfect franchise. The cast also includes Minnie Driver, James Corden and Pierce Brosnan.

Stranger Things season four trailer from Netflix

Stranger Things fans are likely frustrated that no new episodes are going to be released in 2021. The show began production last February, and then the pandemic hit, forcing many shows to temporarily halt filming. Stranger Things only resumed production in September of last year and new episodes are not ready to be released yet.

Saturday, Netflix released a new 30-second teaser for the upcoming installment of the hugely popular supernatural series, which confirmed that Season 4 will debut in 2022, at least two and a half years after the July 2019 release of Season 3.

The new spot (watch it above) features classic moments from the first three seasons of Stranger Things mixed with quick glances at Season 4 footage, including a glimpse of the new monster, an amusement park and a creepy old clock.

Previous trailers have teased the return of David Harbour’s Hopper and Matthew Modine as Dr Martin Brenner.

Season 4 should pick up from the end of Season 3, where an explosion deep under the new Starcourt Mall destroyed the Soviet lab linked to the Upside Down. Joyce Byers (Winona Ryder) is seen taking her sons (Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) out of the Indiana town to start a new life. The final scene jumps to the far Eastern end of the USSR where guards are feeding a prisoner to an imprisoned Demogorgon, but one of them says “not the American.” Whew!

Cobra Kai trailer courtesy Netflix

Last, but certainly not least, Cobra Kai is back! Well, almost; new episodes premiere in December. Of this year!

“Fasten your gi, tighten your belt. Karate is coming to the world’s biggest stage,” says the voiceover, referring to the All Valley Karate tournament, which will be a major plot line in Season 4 of the Emmy-nominated comedy series.

Rivals Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) are featured in the teaser, along with John Kreese (Martin Kove) and their karate proteges, including Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), Samantha (Mary Mouser) and Robby (Tanner Buchanan).

Shots of the actors in character are cut together with footage of them training, in addition to an iconic throwback moment from the original film franchise. The outsize importance of karate to this area of Los Angeles is reinforced when voiceover guy intones that “the soul of the valley is on the line.”

Cobra Kai also stars Courtney Henggeler, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo and Peyton List. The third season, which dropped on New Year’s Day 2021, picked up four Emmy nominations, including one in the new stunt performance category and one in the comedy series category.
