Superhero season is almost here on The CW.

The network released trailers for Gotham Knights, which premieres on March 14th, as well as for the upcoming season of Superman & Lois, which will premiere just before Gotham Knights, if you are watching live, during its broadcast of The Critic’s Choice Awards.

Gotham Knights is not part of the network’s Arrowverse, and neither is Superman & Lois, even if its main characters appeared on the CW’s crossover extravaganza Crisis on Infinite Earths, which brought characters from Smallville and Superman & Lois into the the worlds inhabited by Arrow, The Flash, Batwoman, Supergirl, and the cast of Legends of Tomorrow.

Now with every show except The Flash, which is in its last season, off the air, The CW has a whole new slate of DC programming. When Gotham Knights, the city is reeling after the murder of Bruce Wayne. Wayne’s adopted son Turner Hayes (Oscar Morgan) forges an alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies — Duela (Olivia Rose Keegan), Harper Row (Fallon Smythe) and her brother Cullen Row (Tyler DiChiara) — when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader.

The fugitives work together to (eventually) become Gotham City’s next generation of saviors. Mischa Collins (Supernatural) stars as DA Harvey Dent, who is investigating who really killed Batman. Dent will one day become Two-Face, though it’s not known if that will happen over the course of the show.

The trailer also introduces Robin, who in this version of the Batman legend, is Carrie Kelley  (Navia Robinson), who DC fans will know as the version of Robin featured in Frank Miller’s Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. Stephanie Brown (Anna Lore) will take the mantle of Batgirl.

The Superman & Lois teaser opens with Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) dropping a bomb on Superman (Tyler Hoechlin)…not literally, but that she might be pregnant. We also see the new casting for Jonathan Kent, formerly played by Jordan Elsass. Michael Bishop will play the role of one of Lois and Clark’s two twins; Alex Garfin is still on board as Jordan Kent, who is exploring his super powers this season.

The third season opens after Superman’s blowout defeat of Ally Allston, when Lois’ undercover assignment reveals a deadly foe that will change the Kent family, maybe forever.

There is a lot going on for such a short clip: explosions, something plunging into the sea, aliens, maybe, Superman enveloped in Kryptonite, Lois screaming, and the statue atop the Daily Planet building about to plummet Earthward.

“The series finds the couple returning to Smallville to handle some Kent family business. Clark and Lois are reacquainted with Lana Lang, a local loan officer who also happens to be Clark’s first love, and her Fire Chief husband Kyle Cushing,” reads the network’s official synopsis for the upcoming season.

“The adults aren’t the only ones rediscovering old friendships in Smallville as the Kent sons are reacquainted with Lana and Kyle’s rebellious daughter, Sarah. There’s never a dull moment in the life of a superhero, especially with Lois’ father, General Samuel Lane, looking for Superman to vanquish a villain or save the day at a moment’s notice. Meanwhile, Superman and Lois’ return to idyllic Smallville is set to be upended when a mysterious stranger enters their lives.”

The series also features Dylan Walsh as General Lane, Emmanuelle Chriqui as Lana Lang-Cushing, Erik Valdez as Kyle Cushing, Inde Navarette as Sarah Cushing, Wolé Parks as John Henry Irons, and Chad L. Coleman as this season’s big bad.

In addition, the network teased the second half of Season two of All-American: Homecoming, which premieres in football season, on January 23rd. The current season of the show debuted in October and last aired on November 28th.
