This was inevitable.

When Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) turned up briefly in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the audience reaction was overwhelmingly positive. A few months later, Disney+ started acquired the rights to Marvel Studios’ Daredevil from Netflix. It seems it was only a matter of time before the House of Mouse started production on their own series starring the heroic attorney.

Netflix’s Daredevil was canceled in 2018 after three seasons. Daredevil‘s main antagonist Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) appeared as the main villain in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, which also kept rumors alive.

Variety reports that the new Disney+ Daredevil series will be written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, who were the co-creators of Covert Affairs on USA Network. They most recently served as executive producers and co-showrunners on NBC drama series The Enemy Within and The Brave, and The CW series Containment.

Daredevil and other pre-Disney+ Marvel shows like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders, (which also featured Daredevil), have yet to be added to the official MCU timeline, and thus are not technically canon.

Daredevil was one of the more popular Marvel series on the streamer, lasting three seasons and 39 episodes.

There’s been no official word on the project yet, as Marvel Studios does not comment on projects in development.
