This Monday, Netflix gave us our first look at Wednesday.

In a new teaser trailer, only forty seconds long, we see Jenna Ortega Ortega (YOU, Scream) in costume and in character as Wednesday Addams. She fixes her braids, her collar, and her dead-pan stare on the camera until she’s joined by Thing, the bodily-impaired family servant. The two do their take on the trademark Addams fingersnaps as the gothic show title text comes up.

The show is officially described as a “sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery,” focusing on the grim teen during her years as a student at the unusual Nevermore Academy. The eight-episode series follows Wednesday as she tries to “master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body,” according to the show’s official description.

In addition to Ortega as Wednesday, the rest of the Addams Family will have roles on the show. Catherine Zeta-Jones plays Morticia, while Victor Dorobantu plays Thing. Isaac Ordonez plays Wednesday’s brother Pugsley in a recurring role, while George Burcea plays the family manservant Lurch. Luis Guzmán will guest star as Gomez. The rest of the cast includes Riki Lindhome, Jamie McShane, Percy Hynes White, Gwendoline Christie, Thora Birch, Hunter Doohan, Joy Sunday, Emma Myers, Georgie Farmer, Naomi Ogawa and Moosa Mostafa. In a nod to the ’90s Addams Family films, Ricci will also appear in a role written just for her.

Al Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of Smallville will be showrunners and executive produce the series together. Tim Burton will also executive produce and direct the majority of episodes.

No date was given for the premiere, so we’ll have to settle for “Coming Soon,” as promised by the clip.
