Netflix has given Castlevania fans the briefest of sneak peeks at its spinoff series.

Castlevania: Nocturne follows Richter, a descendant of the Belmont family, popularized in the iconic Symphony of Night and Blood of Rondo Castlevania games. The series focuses on Richter Belmont, (a distant descendant of original Netflix series leads Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades) and Maria Renard.

The action takes place in France circa 1792, during the French Revolution. Though the teaser trailer did not reveal anything in the way of story, it is likely that just as his ancestor did, he’ll likely have to fight the forces of Dracula.

The series is led by showrunner Kevin Kolde and Creator/Writer Clive Bradley and produced by Project 51 Productions, with production services provided by Powerhouse Animation. The series is based on the game from Konami.

Castlevania ended after its fourth season dropped in 2021, around the time show creator Warren Ellis was mired in scandals involving accusations of sexual harrassment of young women.
