Will Arnett Takes an Improvised Trip to ‘Murderville’ With Celebrity Co-Stars
When investigating a murder, be sure to wing it.
Will Arnett’s character in his new series Murderville plans to do just that. In the six-episode series from showrunner and executive producer Krister Johnson (Netflix’s Medical Police, Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later), Detective Terry Seattle (Arnett, Arrested Development, Bojack Horseman) of the Homicide Division investigates another murder case with a new partner each week.
Those partners will improvise their scenes as they team with Arnett’s character to solve a crime of the week. Celebrity guest stars include Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek), iconic TV host Conan O’Brien, playing himself, Ken Jeong (Community), Kumail Nanjiani (Marvel’s Eternals), Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct), and former Seattle Seahawks star and sometime actor Marshawn Lynch.
Regular cast members include Haneefah Wood (Schooled) as Chief Rhonda Jenkins–Seattle, Lilan Bowden (Andi Mack) as Medical Examiner Amber Kang, and Phillip Smithey (Johnson) as Detective Darren ‘Daz’ Phillips.
The show’s official description invites you to:
“Meet Senior Detective Terry Seattle, Homicide Division. For Terry, every day means a new murder case and a new celebrity guest star as his partner. But here’s the catch: each episode’s guest star isn’t being given the script. They have no idea what’s about to happen to them. Together, the guest star and Terry Seattle will have to improvise their way through the case… but it will be up to each celebrity guest alone to name the killer. Join them as they punch a one-way ticket to Murderville.”
The show is is loosely based on the hit BBC Three show Murder in Successville. “We’re basically making Law & Order without a script,” Arnett told The Hollywood Reporter.
Murderville starts streaming on Netflix on February 3rd.
