Big Xenomorph, Small Screen: ‘Alien: Earth’ Brings Monsters to Our Home Planet in New Trailer
Before Ripley ever encountered an Alien, the lethal beasts crash-landed on Earth, according to the first streaming show set in the Alien-verse.
Alien: Earth, coming to FX, follows a team of researchers who explore a ship that’s crash-landed here. Sydney Chandler plays Wendy, who has a human mind and a synthetic body, thus making her the ideal candidate to lead the expedition. The show is set in the year 2120, which makes this a prequel to the first movie.

The official description reads in part, “In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. The first hybrid…’Wendy,’ marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, ‘Wendy’ and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.”
The trailer shows Wendy and her crew exploring the mystery ship, and encountering not one, but five new alien entities. As the strange new life forms come out of stasis, fighting and fatalities follow.

In addition to Chandler, the cast includes Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Rysdahl, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille and Moe Bar-El.
The show was created and executive produced by Noah Hawley. The director of Alien and Aliens, Ridley Scott, along with David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales and Clayton Krueger serve as executive producers.
Alien: Earth will premiere on FX and Hulu on August 12.
