Headed for ‘Splitsville’: Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona Test the Boundaries of Open Marriages
Til’ death do we part seems a lot like a threat in the trailer for Splitsville, a dark comedy starring Dakota Johnson and Adria Arjona.
Splitsville, which also stars Kyle Marvin and Michael Angelo Corvino, who co-wrote the film, is due out later this summer. In summary, “after Ashley (Arjona) asks for a divorce, good-natured Carey (Marvin) runs to his friends, Julie (Johnson) and Paul (Covino), for support. He’s shocked to discover that the secret to their happiness is an open marriage, that is until Carey crosses the line and throws all of their relationships into chaos.”
“I don’t want to get a divorce,” Carey confesses to Julie in the trailer.
“No one does,” counsels Julie.
“She does,” says Carey.

The trailer also shows Carey confessing to Paul that he and Julie had sex…together, and a second later we see Paul and Carey crashing through a picture window and duking it out in the swimming pool.
Corvino also directs the film, which Neon premiered at the Cannes Film Festival last month. Marvin and Corvino another relationship comedy called The Climb, which also had its premiere at Cannes back in 2019.

David Castañeda, O-T Fagbenle, Charlie Gillespie, Nicholas Braun, Simon Webster, Prince Rodn3y, Jessika Mathurin, Stephen Adekolu, Tyrone Benskin, Nahéma Ricci and Letitia Brookes also appear in Splitsville.
Splitsville will open in theaters on August 22nd.
