He’s Still ‘Nobody’: Bob Odenkirk Returns as Family Man/Assassin to Face Off Against Sharon Stone
National Lampoon’s Vacation, this isn’t.
The producers of Nobody 2 may have used Lindsay Buckingham’s “Holiday Road” throughout the trailer of the Bob Odenkirk sequel, but the holiday hijinks depicted aren’t good family fun.
Instead, Odenkirk’s Hutch Mansell, family man and secret assassin, runs into a corrupt theme park owner (John Ortiz), a sheriff on the take (Colin Hanks) and a blood-thirsty drug ring crime boss on their outing to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark.
Nobody, released in 2021, starred Odenkirk as a sort of suburban dad version of John Wick as he took on the Russian mob and saved his family, including wife Connie Nielsen and dad Christopher Lloyd. It was a big hit that unsurprisingly had franchise possibilities for Universal Pictures.
For the sequel, Hutch is $30 million in debt to the crime syndicate and has been doing hits for them to pay it off. But he risks a vacation anyway to appease his neglected fam. It’s not long before things go south, and the trailer shows Hutch starting a knockdown brawl in an arcade and a brutal fight sequence on a boat that ends with him landing blows on his opponent while yelling, “I told you, I’m on f—ing vacation!”

Nobody 2 was directed by Timo Tjahjanto from a screenplay by Derek Kolstad and Aaron Rabin. Christopher Lloyd returns, as do Gage Munroe and Paisley Cadorath as Hutch’s kids. RZA, Michael Ironside, Colin Salmon, and Billy MacLellan also star.
Nobody 2 hits theaters on August 15th.
