Lights! Camera! Powers! Marvel’s ‘Wonder Man’ Is a Hero…And He Plays One in the Movies in New Trailer
Simon Williams just wants to break into show business, but finds he’s capable of breaking a lot more in the trailer for Disney’s Wonder Man.
In Wonder Man, aspiring actor Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) just wants a chance to prove himself, Trevor Slattery (Kingsley) is an actor trying to stay relevant, and director Von Kovak (Zlatko Buric) wants to fight superhero fatigue with his remake of the film Wonder Man. When the three come together, it could change the entertainment industry, and maybe even the world.
“I was born to play this character,” Simon says on his audition tape.

“Acting is the sum of everything you’ve experienced,” counsels Slattery as he advises Simon. “The joy, sadness, loss, heartbreak.”
While Simon is auditioning for the role of Wonder Man, he starts to become a wonder in real life. In the trailer, Simon is asked to sign a document by Agent Cleary, a high-ranking agent from the government agency known as the Department of Damage Control, (played by Arian Moayed, reprising his role from 2021’s Spiderman: No Way Home), declaring he doesn’t have superpowers…which is true at the time. Once Simon starts to exhibit superhuman abilities, Cleary labels him an “extraordinary threat.”

The series, coming to Disney+ at the end of this month, comes from Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton and Community writer Andrew Guest. This will be Kingsley’s third MCU appearance as Trevor Slattery; he also played ‘The Mandarin’ in Iron Man 3 and Shang Chi. Also starring are Juliette Ortega, Olivia Thirlby, Lauren Glazier, Byron Bowers, Ed Harris, and X Mayo.

Disney+ will release all eight episodes of the series on January 27th.
