Things Get Sour in the Honeymoon Suite in New Adam Scott Indie Horror ‘Hokum’ From Neon
It takes the teaser trailer for Hokum all of four seconds to get crazy scary.
Adam Scott stars in Hokum, a folk horror tale directed by Damian McCarthy for Neon Films, In the trailer, something unsavory leers at him while he naps.

As Scott lies in bed, blissfully unaware that he’s being observed, something that looks like Donnie Darko’s little sister gazes at him, with bulging eyes and an open mouth. The teaser is just a series of flashing images, some of them scary, all of them confusing, and the brief narration tells of a witch who lived long ago, so we’ll have to go with the movie’s logline to find out what it’s all about.
“When reclusive novelist Ohm Bauman (Scott) retreats to a remote Irish inn to scatter his parents’ ashes, the staff’s tales of an ancient witch haunting the honeymoon suite take hold of his mind. Soon, disturbing visions and a shocking disappearance draw him into a nightmarish confrontation with the darkest corners of his past.”

David Wilmot, Austin Amelio, Florence Ordesh and Peter Coonan also star.
The film comes with an impressive pedigree. McCarthy wrote and directed Hokum, and is responsible for the disturbing indie films Oddity and Caveat. The production team is also behind 2025’s most innovative and creepy horror films, Weapons, as well as Late Night with the Devil. Neon, who distributed Longlegs and Presence, is releasing the film on May 1st, 2026.
