Trailer Post: Watch Pedro Pascal Get ‘Freaky’ and Porky and Daffy Try to Prevent ‘The Day the Earth Blew Up’
Tuesday’s two new trailers feature Tales and Tunes.
In Freaky Tales, Pedro Pascal leads an all-star ensemble cast in a gritty black comedy about Oakland’s seedy underbelly in 1987.
The movie’s official description reads “Freaky Tales is a multi-track mixtape of colorful characters — an NBA star, a corrupt cop, a female rap duo, teen punks, neo-Nazis, and a debt collector — on a collision course in a fever dream of showdowns and battles. [T]his pulpy blend of explosive action, edgy humor, gory kills, and sly twists and turns makes for one wild ride.”
Pascal plays a crook who wants to get out of the game, but gets pulled back in for “one last job” against his will, leading to a war between crime bosses and a neighborhood full of people who are tired of being pushed around.
Freaky Tales is written and directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (Captain Marvel.) Hip-hop pioneer Too $hort serves as executive producer. The cast also includes Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis, Normani, Dominique Thorne, Jack Champion, Ji-young Yoo, Angus Cloud, and Tom Hanks.
Lionsgate premiered Freaky Tales at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, and sends it to theaters on April 4th.

Also out Tuesday is the trailer for The Day the Earth Blew Up, starring Daffy Duck and Porky Pig (among others) in a new Looney Tunes film guaranteed to not be pulled from theaters at the last minute as a Warner Bros. tax dodge.
That’s because Ketchup Entertainment is distributing the film, which rockets into theaters on March 14th.
Porky and Daffy “venture to the big screen as unlikely heroes and Earth’s only hope” in The Day the Earth Blew Up, “when their antics at the local bubblegum factory uncover a secret alien mind-control plot. Faced with cosmic odds, the two are determined to save their town (and the world!) … that is if they don’t drive each other totally looney in the process,”
The trailer features the usual Looney Tunes hijinx: giant mallets, inconvenient explosions, weird aliens bent on dominating Earth, and Daffy and Porky’s constant bickering.
Eric Bauza voices both Daffy and Porky in The Day the Earth Blew Up, which is the first fully 2D-animated theatrical feature in Looney Tunes history.

Peter Browngardt directs and co-wrote with assistance from an scriptwriting ensemble. Bauza is joined by the voices of Candi Milo as Petunia Pig, Peter MacNicol, Wayne Knight, and Laraine Newman.
