Could those faked-moon landing conspiracists be right?

No, no they couldn’t. But in Fly Me to the Moon, Scarlet Johansson and Channing Tatum play moon-crossed lovers who are both trying to help the U.S. win the space race, in very different ways.

Johansson plays Kelly Jones, a public relations expert who must improve NASA’s public image by selling Americans on the astronauts making the first manned flight to the moon. That puts her at odds with launch director Cole Davis (Tatum), who is opposed to her marketing gimmicks.

When the White House asks her to film a fake moon landing as a face-saving backup plan in case the mission fails, the sparks really fly between the two.

“If you fake this mission, every single thing that we have sacrificed will have been for nothing,” Cole warns Kelly in the trailer.

Jim Rash, Ray Romano, Anna Garcia, Donald Elise Watkins, Noah Robbins, Colin Woodell, Nick Dillenburg, Christian Zuber and Woody Harrelson also star in the film.

The film comes from Sony and Apple, and is directed by Greg Berlanti. Rose Gilroy wrote the script from a story by Bill Kirstein and Keenan Flynn. Johansson is producting alongside Sarah Schecter, Jonathan Lia and Flynn.
