Bodkin and The Image of You couldn’t be more different.

Bodkin is a new series on Netflix about podcasters who uncover something unusual – and deadly – in a sleepy Irish village. The Image of You, about identical twins, one good and one evil, hails from Republic Pictures and will open in theaters. Bodkin comes from Higher Ground Productions, Barack and Michelle Obama’s imprint. No former presidents were involved in the making of The Image of You.

However, both involve murders, and their debuts are nearly on the same day, so why not write about both here? First, Bodkin, which gives off a Wicker Man: the series vibe.

Bodkin stars Will Forte as a podcaster in search of a exciting crime to feature on his show. He and his fellow hosts, played by Siobhán Cullen and Robyn Cara, travel to the tiny seaside town of Bodkin, where everything is not what it seems – it is in fact much weirder.

The program’s official description reads, “the heroes of Bodkin try to discern fact from fiction — about the case, about their colleagues, and, most painfully, themselves — the series challenges our perception of truth and exposes the stories we tell ourselves to justify our beliefs or validate our fears.”

Chris Walley and David Wilmot also star.  The show was created by Jez Scharf who serves as co-showrunner and executive producer alongside Alex Metcalf, who shares that credit with the Obamas.

Bodkin premieres all eight episodes on Netflix beginning May 9th.

If you are getting Pretty Little Liar, but with sex, vibes from The Image of You, you’re reading the trailer right – and there’s twice as much Sasha Pieterse in this.

The Image of You is based on Adele Parks’ hit novel and stars the Pretty Little Liars actress as Anna and Zoe, identical twins in what the studio is calling a “twisted tale of deception and desire.”

The official description reads “Identical twins Anna and Zoe find their bond tested over Anna’s new love, Nick. While the trusting Anna is head over heels, her skeptical sister Zoe senses a web of deceit. But as Zoe digs for the truth, they’re all pulled into a dangerous game where honesty could prove fatal.”

Parker Young plays the hapless Nick, who at first can’t tell the twins apart, despite the fact that they always wear different shades of lipstick. Then again, even after he knows it doesn’t seem to stop him from bedding both.

Mira Sorvino plays the twins’ mother, and Nestor Carbonell also appears as David. The film was directed by Jeff Fisher from a screenplay adapted by Chris Sivertson and Parks from her best-selling 2017 novel. Republic Picures produced the film for Paramount.

The Image of You will be released theatrically and digitally on May 10th.
